Passion for Knowledge (P4K) has launched its sixth edition today, transforming Donostia into a meeting point between science and the public. The opening ceremony was presided over by the Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, and was also attended by Eider Mendoza, Deputy General of Gipuzkoa; Jon Insausti, Mayor of San Sebastián; and Pedro Miguel Etxenike, President of the DIPC.
The opening ceremony began with a performance by Aukeran Dantza Konpainia. Following the official act, the event continued with lectures by Anne L’Huillier, winner of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics and one of the pioneers of attosecond science, and Brian Schmidt, winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics for the discovery of the accelerated expansion of the universe. Both shared their knowledge and experiences with the audience, introducing some of the big questions of contemporary physics to the general public.
Over the coming days, the city will host a wide-ranging programme of activities featuring six Nobel Laureates, five Princess of Asturias Award winners and other leading international figures, who will share their knowledge, experiences and passion for science with audiences of all ages.
